About QECR What We Believe

History:

QECR’s first national gathering was held at Howard University in Washington, DC in March of 2005. More than a hundred activists, scholars, students, parents, and other community members spent two days discussing the state of public education, components and characteristics of a quality education, and how to ensure that a quality education is guaranteed to all America’s children. Several committees formed out of this meeting, including a legal issues committee, media relations, youth organizing, and a coordinating committee. The coordinating committee convened over the next year at the University of Michigan, Jackson State University, Mississippi State University, and the Penn Center in South Carolina. In October 2006, QECR hired its first National Co-Coordinators, Jessy and Michael Molina, to continue to coordinate the increasing numbers of people across the country inspired by the idea of high quality public education as a Constitutional right.
